→ Mendez Brand Book
Channel: Print Design
Rebeca Mendez is a designer and a fine artist residing in Los Angeles. Her work combines design with her passion for the environment to evoke an engaging story of the world surrounding us. Many of her pieces explore the journey of the people and animals that have walked the Earth, ranging from migrating birds to the indigenous tribes that lived on Los Angeles' soil. As her designer, I wanted to tell her story through a concise brand identity. This 30-page book details her work and my interpretation of her as an artist.
The process included thorough research of Mendez and her designs, collecting interviews and articles about her. The flow of the book was derived from Mendez's seamless visual storytelling. There were multiple iterations of sketching the book; it was a trial and error-process until I accurately evoked her essence.
A key moment in this project was understanding that the design process is not always simple. I learned how to iterate various book spreads and create a visual identity in book format.
A mood board was designed to help create her visual identity. The mood board established the color palette, inspired
by her installations.
