Collaborating with Caden (Exterior designer) and Liz (Interior designer), we developed ID Plus 2030: a Volkswagen vehicle concept that addresses current and future mobility demands while reflecting the needs and lifestyle of a 70-year-old driver.

As the UX/UI designer, I compiled our research we gained from our user interviews into solutions that alleviate Anne’s challenges. A few solutions included a heads up display that shows images of her family members as a way to connect with her loved ones. I also designed a GPS that alerts Anne when she strays too far from navigation. I worked closely with Liz, the interior designer, to make sure the interfaces align with Anne’s needs.

This challenging project informed me of the challenges older drivers face. After numerous revisions and iterations, we created an animation that encompasses how ID Plus 2030 is accessible for Anne.

This project was created as part of a student-sponsored collaboration with Volkswagen (VW). All rights to the work are retained by the student creators and the sponsoring company.

When the car starts, family photos appear on the HUD as a way for Anne to connect with family.

The GPS on the HUD displays projections on the road for Anne to navigate while driving easily. Gauge cluster information is displayed on the HUD in Anne’s view.

Audio Lights flash on the sides of the windshield to notify Anne of approaching emergency vehicles and dangerous drivers on the road.

The infotainment system enables CarPlay so Anne can quickly adapt to the system.
